PENGARUH KONSUMSI BERITA DAN KOMUNIKASI POLITIK TERHADAP KETERLIBATAN WARGA NEGARA PADA MAHASISWA KOTA BANDUNG

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh konsumsi berita terhadap ‎keterlibatan warganegara melalui mediasi komunikasi politik, dengan ‎menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan desain eksplanatori. Variabel utama ‎yang dikaji meliputi konsumsi berita (KBE), komunikasi politik (yang terdiri dari ‎kepedulian isu politik/KIP dan frekuensi komunikasi politik/FKP), serta ‎keterlibatan warganegara yang diukur melalui kepercayaan diri warganegara ‎‎(KDW), minat keterlibatan masa depan (MKM), dan tindakan mempromosikan ‎isu penting (MIP). Data dikumpulkan melalui survei daring yang melibatkan 103 ‎mahasiswa di Kota Bandung. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan Structural ‎Equation Modeling berbasis Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) untuk mengevaluasi ‎hubungan langsung maupun tidak langsung antar variabel. Hasil penelitian ‎menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi berita berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap ‎kepedulian isu politik (β = 0.460, p < 0.001) dan frekuensi komunikasi politik (β = ‎‎0.212, p = 0.007). Selanjutnya, komunikasi politik terbukti menjadi mediator yang ‎signifikan dalam menjembatani pengaruh konsumsi berita terhadap keterlibatan ‎warganegara. FKP berpengaruh positif terhadap KDW (β = 0.382, p < 0.001) dan ‎MIP (β = 0.308, p < 0.001), sedangkan KDW menjadi prediktor penting bagi MKM ‎‎(β = 0.522, p < 0.001) dan MIP (β = 0.199, p = 0.007). Berbagai jalur efek tidak ‎langsung juga menunjukkan signifikansi statistik, mengonfirmasi peran penting ‎komunikasi politik sebagai mekanisme mediasi. Temuan ini menegaskan ‎pentingnya literasi media dalam meningkatkan partisipasi politik mahasiswa di ‎era digital.‎
