Abstract: The era of the pandemic, which is currently starting to move to endemic has resulted in the flow of density of teaching and learning activities on campus. Some students started doing offline practicums, and also guidance activities for lecturers in the lecture building, of course with strict health protocols. Currently, the condition of the public open space at UPN "Veteran" East Java and the existing street furniture is less than ideal to accommodate the activities of the academic community, as well as to meet the new-normal rules. This study uses a qualitative method with a Behavioral Mapping Analysis approach, which carried out by tracking user movements in public spaces and mapping user interactions. The findings were most of students and visitors walked to the public area through secondary access which is closest to the road and parking area, therefore creating crowd in one side of the area. This research conclude there are several consideration for future planning such as placement of sculpture or icon to attract toward the center of the public space, replacing permanent street furniture with mobile one, and enhance the secondary access to ensure safety and comfort of the passerby.
References
